Windows 7 - The Next Big Release or a Fail?
Windows 7 can only be worse if it builds on Vista. It is the current name for the next major release of Windows. It should go back to basics. Windows 7 Server is another product that we can expect to be released approximately at the same time that Windows 7 will hit the streets, and feature themes sound a lot like parts of Windows with which you are familiar. It will be a from-the-ground-up packaging of the Windows codebase; partially source, but not binary compatible with previous versions of Windows.
Windows 7 (formerly known as Blackcomb and Vienna) is the working name for the next major version of Microsoft Windows as the successor of Windows Vista! It was originally time-lined 2011, later reports put it at 2010; and now 2009 !
Windows 7 will be an evolutionary upgrade, just like every Apple OSX update has been. Why does everyone expect Microsoft to deliver a revolution every time they introduce a new product? Windows 7 Server is another product that we can expect to be released approximately at the same time that Windows 7 will hit the streets. Windows 7’s feature teams sound a lot like parts of Windows with which you are familiar. Because of the platform elements of Windows we have many teams that have remained fairly constant over several releases, whereas some teams are brand new or represent relatively new areas composed of some new code and the code that formed the basis of the team.
Windows 7 will include improved hardware- and software-based virtualization experiences. Windows 7 will be a from-the-ground-up packaging of the Windows codebase; partially source, but not binary compatible with previous versions of Windows. Performance of native applications can be increased, distribution sizes can be cut down, functionality can be added without the worry of breaking old applications, and the overall end-user experience can be significantly improved.
